Economic recovery projects

Councils have a key role to play as the country recovers from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and our response to it.

The seeds we sow now, the investment we make in our District’s infrastructure, environment, community and cultural wellbeing, will bear fruit in future.  However, we know affordability is a key concern for many in our community.

The support coming from central government, through a variety of different funding streams, has been invaluable in helping us to achieve that balance. These projects will provide employment opportunities and stimulate the economy.

Funding allocated to projects in Tasman

As at April 2022 we have approved government funding of 29.5$ million and we’ve allocated local funding of almost $8 million to support these projects.

Ten of the original 21 projects have now been completed. One new project has been added in 2022. Of the 12 ongoing remaining projects four will be finished by the end of 2023 and the remaining eight will have finished by 2026.

A Programme Management Office (PMO) has been set up to coordinate delivery of the projects as the agreements, funding arrangements and reporting requirements also vary from project to project.

The PMO will work with Council’s team of project and programme managers to ensure all the projects meet the objectives required by our funding partners, are delivered to a high standard, on time and provide the best outcomes for our community.
