Apply for a Resource Consent

• A completed and signed application form.
  • Link to our resource consent forms
• The location of your activity (a map, aerial photograph or a sketch).
  • Link to Top of the South Maps
• An assessment of effects on the environment (AEE). 
• Written approval from affected persons - as needed. 
  • Link to information on affected persons
• A current copy of your record of title (computer register). You get this through Land Information New Zealand's webpage for ordering land records.
• An assessment against the relevant provisions of the Tasman Resource Management Plan, including any other information it required (see Step 2).
• The deposit fee.

The TRMP has the information you must include with each type of resource consent application. Use the matching 'information required' as a checklist when you are putting your application together.

Some information is needed 'as required'. This means it depends on the details of your proposal. If you are unsure, contact our duty planner.

Email your application to resourceconsentadmin@tasman.govt.nz. You can also post your application or drop it in at any of our offices in Richmond, Motueka, Murchison or Tākaka. 

When we get your application we give it a quick first check to make sure it's complete. 

If we find you're missing something important, we may:

• return your application with a letter explaining why we did not accept it, or
• put your application on hold while you supply any further items.
