Groundwater levels

The Council monitors groundwater levels in all the major aquifers in the district. The sites monitored provide regional coverage with the intensity of monitoring driven by the pressure on the groundwater resource in that particular area.

Chose a site from the map and the graphs and data will update.

Displayed in the report are 7 and 30-day graphs, and graph comparing groundwater levels for this year against historic minimum and maximums at each site. To zoom in on the 30-day graph, drag the slider along which is located along the bottom of the graph.

The different coloured dots on the map indicate which vertical datum each site is measured in, with all groundwater level data shown in millimetres.

*** 18 Dec 2023 Update - the Challies Island site was re-installed last week however the site has been vandalised and equipment stolen again. We are working on an alternative monitoring solution for this location ***
