Geological hazards webinars

We held two interactive geological hazards community webinars where we provided information around:

  • the slope instability hazards review and associated mapping,
  • a review of active earthquake faults within our district, and
  • district-wide seismic liquefaction hazard mapping.

A recording of the webinar can be viewed below.

Tasman District is vulnerable to natural hazards.

Our region has the potential to be affected by earthquakes, including the rupture of local fault lines and those further afield such as the Alpine Fault system.

Parts of our district may be vulnerable to liquefaction following a significant earthquake.

Slope instability is a well-known hazard affecting our district.

We need to better prepare our communities for the effects of ongoing changes to weather patterns and rising sea levels.
