Op-shop Subsidy Grants

We’re making grants available to Opportunity/Charitable Shops to help cover their waste disposal costs.  

This is available for Opportunity Shops, those associated with a charity to which new or used goods are donated, for sale at a low price, to make money for the work of the charity. 

The grant will cover up to 20% of the shop’s annual waste disposal costs, capped at a maximum of $500. You can apply for the subsidy annually and at any time during the year. The grant can also be allocated retrospectively, up to the last 12 months. 

There are certain criteria to obtain a grant. It must: 

• Be used within Tasman and/or demonstrate benefit to Tasman residents 
• Be used for waste disposal costs 
• Align with the Nelson Tasman Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2019(external link)

Cost of waste disposal for 12 months

Please tell, as best you can, how much have you paid for the Op-shop waste disposal over the last 12 months (20% of this cost can be covered through this grant, capped at a maximum of $500).

Please provide your bank details - the name of the account and the number.

Please attach receipts/invoices for disposal costs over the last 12 months (further upload options below):

Please tell us the amount of waste you've sent to landfill over 12 months (in tonnes if known)

Please tell us the amount of goods donated to the shop over 12 months (in tonnes if known)

Please tell us the amount of goods sold or redistributed over 12 months (in tonnes if known)
