Waste Minimisation Grants for Community Events

Grants of up to $750 are available to help reduce waste at community events.

We have Waste Minimisation Grants available to help event organisers to reduce the amount of waste at an event, using a wide range of waste minimisation initiatives.

The aim is to also raise awareness of recycling, recovery, and composting in the community for those attending the events.

Grants of up to $750 are available. Applications are open all year round but you must use the funding within six months of receiving it.

There are certain criteria to obtain a grant:

  • The event takes place in Tasman or has benefit to Tasman residents
  • It must be for specific event or activity
  • Aligns with the Nelson Tasman Waste Management and Minimisation Plan 2019
  • Is for not for profit, schools, charitable and voluntary community groups or organisations (not available for individuals)
  • Identify benefit to the community that will result from funding support.

The grants can be used for:

  • One-off projects or events
  • Service delivery costs
  • Material and equipment hire
  • Monitoring and evaluation.

If you are successful in obtaining a grant, you’ll need to complete an accountability form to show how the money was used.
