These proposals may be discussion documents that raise various issues and options concerning resource management in the Tasman District.
They may also be draft Plan amendments (Variations or Changes).
Technical reports with recommendations may also accompany the proposals for which Council also seeks community feedback.
Note: Council is working with our communities on a new resource management plan that will help to keep it special for generations to come. To find out more, check out the dedicated page Tasman Environment Plan Aorere ki uta, Aorere ki tai - Tasman Environment Plan(external link)

A body of council planning work, including the Nelson Tasman Future Development Strategy and our 10-Year Plan, has identified that as well as intensification in Richmond, there is a need for greenfield development so that there are enough houses for our growing population.
The ‘Reimagining Richmond South’ project aims to help meet growing housing demand by providing for around 2,000 new homes within the next 20 years in the area south of Richmond towards Hope.
In April 2022, we engaged on the community vision for the area and four early concepts for growth. You can watch a recorded webinar held live during this round of engagement.
The April round of engagement followed our first round that included community information events at Hope Hall in November 2021. We enjoyed meeting some 200 locals through these events and learning their views on the current Richmond South area and how they imagine the future of this part of Tasman.
Thank you to everyone who has provided feedback and input to this project to date.
