Motueka aerodrome

This map shows the circuit pattern/standard flight path for all planes at Motueka aerodrome. A circuit pattern is used to position aircraft during take-off and landing to minimise the risk of collision. The rectangular markings on the map are indicative only and provided to help residents understand the expected flight paths of aircraft using the aerodrome.

Council has a policy on where you can and can't fly drones, model aircraft and other unmanned aircraft over Council land. Included in this policy is information regarding the flight restriction zones around Motueka Aerodrome.

The Motueka Aerodrome Advisory Group works with Council in the development and management of the aerodrome.

It is not a decision-making group but provides feedback and makes recommendations to the Council on Motueka aerodrome related matters.

The Motueka Aerodrome Management Plan aims to co-ordinate the aerodrome's use, operations, maintenance and developments, in cooperation with the aerodrome operators. 

The plan includes:

• Governance and management
• Advisory group
• Operations and Safety Committee
• Emergency Plan, and
• Development Plan. 

The Emergency Plan is included within the Management Plan, which was last reviewed in 2021.

Aerodrome fee changes proposed

Feedback has now closed. You can read the proposed changes in this document (pdf 1.6 MB). Once finalised the new fees will take effect from 1 July 2024.

Aerodrome Charges

For general aviation user landing charges: 

• Every landing incurs a landing charge 
• The first touch and go any aircraft registration number for each 60-minute period is charged as a landing charge 
• Any touch and go that occurs over 60 minutes after the first will incur an additional landing charge 
• Unpaid landings will be invoiced and will incur an administration charge of $150.00 per invoice 
• No Cash payments are allowed, please see signage for banking payment details. 
• Visit this page for information on making a one off bank payment. Please include your tail number and either NZMK – for Motueka Aerodrome or NZTK – for Tākaka Aerodrome.  
• If unpaid after three months debt will be passed to debt collection agency - additional collection charges to apply 
• Long-term parking agreements will be negotiated individually with commercial operators 
• Hangar application fees are non-refundable 

 For regular user landing charges: 

• New users during the year will be invoiced pro-rata for the period to the end of the year. 
• The charges may be varied by the Enterprise & Property Services Manager where special circumstances exist.
