Why recycling farm plastic is important

Some of the materials and chemicals that are routinely used on our farms may be hazardous or contain hazardous chemicals. When these products are no longer needed, they need to be disposed of appropriately to ensure that the environment is not contaminated and that there is no risk to people’s health.

Burning or burying farm plastics can lead to the release of many air pollutants and hazardous by-products, including heavy metals, dioxins, and furans causing ongoing issues for the environment, human health, and future generations.

Recovery systems such as recycling farm plastics help to reduce this harm.
