Background details

The Council received an application for resource consents to extract gravel from the berm of the Motueka River and on the landward side of the stopbank at Peach Island.

  • This includes stockpiling topsoil, reinstatement of quarried land and associated amenity planting, access formation and signs.
  • The applicant identified that a consent was needed for the discharge of contaminants to land from the material proposed as backfill.
  • This discharge permit application (RM220578) extends the scope of the original, and so the applicant made a separate application (lodged on 15 July 2022). Everything up to the submissions for that is on the CJ discharge application web page (see related links).
